Conflict between workers continues subway and the concessionaire Emova due to the demand for a reduction in working hours, for which this Friday the metro delegates will advance a new protest.
The employees of the subway demand that the working day go from 6 to 5 days, since they denounce that several units of the transport network They are contaminated with asbestos, a substance that causes health problems.
In this sense, they claim that the schedule be reduced to spend less time in the units of the subway contaminated. In addition, they point out that the workload increases due to the lack of personnel.
Through a press release, the Subway and Premetro Workers Union Association (AGTSyP), led by Roberto Pianelli, stated that in the absence of responses to their requests from the Emova company, they will continue with their plan of struggle.
“We have not received responses from Emova to the request to reduce the weekly working day, to work five dayswhich is aggravated by the lack of personnel in all sectors and by the delay in the purchase of new trains without asbestos by the City Government,” they indicated.
And they remark: “In this sense, we will continue with the self-defense measures. Let’s remember that asbestos is a carcinogenic mineral and that, currently, we have 75 colleagues with conditions caused by exposure to this mineral”.
For its part, Emova has indicated that the request to reduce working hours is “unfeasible and incompatible” with the operation of the service. In addition, they ensure that it is not true that more personnel are currently required.
