«The popular communication method “Street, networks, media, walls and radio Bemba”, conceived by President Nicolás Maduro as a tool of popular education, territorial articulation and communication mobilization, has been effective in counteracting the cognitive war that has been applied against Venezuela”, as stated by the sector vice president of Communication and Culture, Freddy Ñáñez.
During his speech at the third International Forum “Dialogue on Counterfeiting 3.0” he specified that in the face of the hegemonic disinformation campaign, this method has served to express the truth of the Bolivarian nation, which has been the target of various multiform attacks since 2006.
In this sense, Ñáñez emphasized the importance of promoting the training of critical thinking, political communication and digital literacy of citizens to strengthen social organization as a foundation to resist misinformation and symbolic colonization promoted by large media and technological consortia.
“An informed and organized citizenry constitutes the basis of any cultural offensive capable of transforming communication into an exercise of conscience, solidarity and collective action,” he noted.
On the other hand, he emphasized that through this method it has been possible to destroy the false narratives designed by the United States such as those of the “Aragua Train”, “Cartel of the Suns” or the “fight against drug trafficking.” “They are lies used to erode the image of the Venezuelan State, demoralize the population and generate institutional distrust, the same strategies used against Iraq in 2003.”
