The State Doctrine on the Essequibo Nuestro and Containment forum is held in the ICJ

Judges, teachers and students are trained in the Forum on the Essequibo case

At the headquarters of the National School of the Magistracy, in Caracas, the deputy, president of the Special Commission for the Defense of the Territory of Guayana Esequiba and Territorial Sovereignty, Hermann Escarrá, said that “this forum consists of guiding towards the legal, in addition, we will talk about the chaining of the titles, from the uti possidetis juris, and the state doctrine that is developed in the Geneva Agreement, and in article 10 of our Constitution”.

This forum called: The State doctrine on our Essequibo and contention in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), informs attendees about the claim of homeland history and territorial sovereignty.

It is important to note that in November, the Venezuelan State Agent, in the case of Guyana and Venezuela, Samuel Moncada, for the validity of the 1899 Arbitration Award treaty, stated the following at the ICJ headquarters:

“As for Venezuela, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) tells him that the problem of the treaty cannot be discussed with Guyana, because it did not exist at that time, the one that existed was Great Britain and that country is not present today. , if we do not deal with the agent of the crime that dispossessed us, then this trial makes no sense, today we ask you to declare the lawsuit inadmissible”, said Professor Samuel Moncada.

Moncada also stressed that it is the first time in the history of Venezuela that an issue dating from 1899 is presented before an international court, the date on which the Arbitration Court of Paris stripped the country of its territory.

He added, that in this scenario, Venezuela introduced before the International Court of Justice, in the month of June, the preliminary objections to deal with the validity of that demand, “this issue cannot be discussed with Guyana, because it did not exist at that time , the one that existed was Great Britain, and it is with them that one must discuss ”.

He also indicated on that occasion that “we are in a historic moment and that is why we are here presenting the position of Venezuela. It is necessary to place ourselves in the importance of the case at this time,” added Moncada.

He called on the Venezuelan population to be attentive to this debate on territorial sovereignty, “we have to study the issue and know what is coming, it is a very important issue. This had never gone to court, let us be aware of what they stole from us and be able to defend Venezuela throughout the world.

Finally, the Venezuelan State Agent pointed out that in the coming months, the case between Venezuela and Guyana will continue its course and the ICJ is expected to have a response by January 2023, “Venezuelans should be proud of the defense of our team of lawyers in this court.”
