The start of the 2023 school year was postponed to Monday, March 20, due to the emergency situation in the La Libertad region, due to the rains and flooding caused by the mudslides. Thus reported the Regional Office of Education of La Libertad through a press release.
As is known, on Friday night the San Ildefonso, El León and San Carlos streams were activated, flooding the city of Trujillo.
“The Regional Education Management of La Libertad, in coordination with the fifteen Local Educational Management Units (Ugel), in view of the latest weather events that have been occurring in our region and based on the data collected by the Prevaed team, determined that the start of school classes for public institutions scheduled for March 13, 2023, is suspended, with the new class start date being March 20, 2023, after evaluation of the school premises, general affectation and conditions weather”, they stated in a press release.
They also detailed that from the 13th to the 17th of this month they will evaluate the conditions of the school premises that have been affected by the heavy rains.
“From March 13 to 17 in progress, actions to condition the school premises and those that ensure a better provision of the educational service in the current school year will be prioritized”they pointed.
They also added that private educational institutions must implement actions in order to safeguard the integrity of the members of their respective communities.
