The Ssa confirms 17 thousand 432 new cases of covid-19 in the country

The Ministry of Health (Ssa) confirmed yesterday 17 thousand 432 new cases of covid-19 in Mexico, which adds up to 5 million 940 thousand 518, while the deceased were 42, for a cumulative of 325 thousand 553, for which the upward trend in infections continues.

Active cases, that is, with symptoms in the last 14 days, indicates the daily technical report on the state of the pandemic in the country, total 98,100, with an incidence rate of 75.4 per 100,000 inhabitants. The hospital occupancy rate was reported at 5 percent for general beds and 2 percent for ventilated beds.

The federal agency indicated that the entities with the highest percentage of active cases are Mexico City, the state of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Veracruz, Puebla and Sonora. The daily average of cases per week also increased, since this Friday it stood at 8,497, for the period from June 12 to 18, that is, almost 3,000 more than in the previous epidemiological week.

Meanwhile, the federal agency reported that the second shipment of packaged pediatric vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNTech arrived in the country yesterday morning. It was one million 200 thousand doses, which will be used to immunize girls and boys from five to 11 years old.

With these biologicals, between Thursday and Friday, 2 million 4 thousand pediatric antigens arrived, out of a total of 8 million contracted by the federal government. In sum, since December 23, 2020, Mexico has had 226 million 353 thousand 35 doses available.

At 7:03 a.m., flight CVG-GDL-MEX-M71651 arrived at Terminal 1 of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), from Cincinnati, United States, with a stopover in Guadalajara, Jalisco, with the vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech for the pediatric population. 48 members of the Mexican Army participated in their arrival, transfer and security. Since December 23, 2020, 114 shipments have arrived from this laboratory, with a total of 53,437,395 doses to immunize adults, adolescents and children. In the coming days, the arrival of more pediatric biologicals is expected.
