The second season of The squid game, the successful South Korean Netflix seriespremiered on December 26, unleashing a wave of excitement among fans who are preparing to enjoy the new episodes this last weekend of 2024. Some more eager followers have already finished watching it, which has reignited speculation about the third and final season of the series.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, creator and director of the global phenomenonconfirmed that The Squid Game will conclude with a third seasonscheduled to premiere in 2025. As explained in statements to The Hollywood Reporter, the series was initially conceived as a single-season story. However, the international success and expansion of the narrative led the director to imagine a trilogy that would allow him to tell “everything he wanted to tell.”
