The central defender of Paris SG Sergio Ramos, suffering from different physical problems in recent months, suffers a new muscle injury in the right calf, the club said this Sunday, without specifying the duration of his recovery period.
Out for the French Cup round of 16 against Nice on Monday, the Spaniard is a doubt for the Champions League first leg against Real Madrid, his former team, on February 15.
“We will be aware of his evolution day by day. We do not yet know the duration of his absence,” his coach, Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, said at a press conference.
The 35-year-old Andalusian was injured on Thursday in training, according to the Parisian club.
This relapse occurs when the central came from chaining two consecutive games for the first time this season.
He had even scored against Reims (4-0) on January 23, in his first game as a starter at the Parc des Princes as a PSG player.
Ramos was running as a starter again against Nice, since the Brazilian Marquinhos, who also occupies the central position, is disputing the South American qualifiers for the World Cup with Brazil.
Signed in July, Ramos missed the first five months of competition due to calf problems. His recurring physical problems have already opened the door for him to leave Real Madrid, where he played for 16 years.
