This December 17, the National Infrastructure Agency announced delivery of the Rumichaca-Pasto fourth generation (4G) road which had an investment of 2.5 billion pesos.
the road counts with 10 kilometers of dual carriageway between San Juan (Ipiales) and El Contadero and the construction of the Boquerón vehicular bridge. This will facilitate mobility between Colombia and Ecuador.
“It is a great satisfaction to deliver this great project to such a region
important for the country as Nariño is, for what it represents: its historical wealth and
cultural. Undoubtedly, his works promote Economic Justice in the Southwest through the generation of employment and the promotion of new opportunities for communities. This project had an investment of $2.5 billion and generated more than 13,600 jobs. With this delivery, the Government of Life continues to encourage productivity, tourism and agribusiness”, said the Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Francisco Reyes González.
The road corridor has 83 kilometers and its construction generated 13,600 jobs according to the ANI. It is one of the most relevant roads in the country as it connects Pasto and the border with Ecuador through large works such as the dual carriageway from Ipiales (San Juan) to Catambuco and from Catambuco to Pasto.
In addition, The work would benefit about 884,000 inhabitants of municipalities from Ipiales, Contadero, Iles, Tangua, Yacuanquer, Imués and Pasto. One of the major components of this project is social, since 894 families benefited from the economic activities restoration program. Through productive initiatives, 840 families received support and 95 projects were strengthened.
