As far as management is concerned, the president Louis Abinader has granted the Dominican nationality with privileged naturalization to seven people, a distinction given “for having rendered eminent services to the Republic”, as contemplated by the Law 1683, on Naturalization.
The most recent to receive it has been the former president of Spain Philip Gonzalez, defined by Abinader as “a loyal friend” of the country, who has a friendship of almost 50 years with the Dominicans. The head of state issued the decree 42-22 with which he authorizes González to carry the Dominican identity card.

Patricia Phelps is the wife of the Venezuelan businessman Gustavo Cisneroswho also got the privileged naturalization in January 2010, under the decree 9-10issued by the former president Leonel Fernandez.
On April 30, 2021, the decree 278-21with which Abinader grants a Creole ID to Mauricio De Vengoecheathe Colombian political scientist who designed the campaign strategy of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) for the 2020 elections.

Another Spaniard who received the distinction was Jose Bono Martinezwith the ddecree 517-20from October 2, 2020.
Bonó Martínez held the presidency of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha between 1983 and 2004. He was Minister of Defense (2004-2006) and president of the Congress of Deputies between 2008 and 2011.
The ex-president Daniel Medina granted nationality with privileged naturalization to 18 people during his eight years of management, according to the Consulting database. The artists Ricardo Montaner and Diego el Cigala They were among the best known.
Law 1683 on Naturalization establishes that privileged naturalization cannot be granted to no more than five foreigners per year.
