The service of the WOM operator in Colombia took an important turn. With the backing of foreign investors and the support of the national government, the company ensured the continuity of its operation and the satisfaction of its more than 6.8 million customers.
In interview with RCN Radio, Ramiro Lafarga, CEO of WOM in Colombia, detailed how this financial restructuring was carried out in search of resources for the operation, where WOM began a process of attracting investors in the first half of last year.

“WOM is a loss-making company that needs this support operationally, but as the number of clients grows, obviously that support becomes less and less, which means we are on the verge of achieving the long-awaited profitability,” he indicated. .
It is worth mentioning that the SUR Holdings group acquired the shareholding of the company and its investment began to be injected in December, allowing WOM to maintain its operations.
According to Lafarga, This capital injection aims to ensure the growth of the company in the near future, despite being a company in a state of financial reorganization.
“This started last year, back in May. It is expected that in the coming months we will reach a conclusion where there is an agreement between creditors and suppliers, With which, from that moment on, payment programs will be established for all suppliers,” he added.

The WOM reorganization process has been facilitated by Law 1116, which allowed it to refinance some debt payments, such as those related to the radio spectrum, postponing them until 2029.
That relief, negotiated with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), does not imply a reduction in debt, but rather a delay in payments, giving WOM the time necessary to stabilize its finances.
Customers should not fear about the quality of the service, since the company assures that far from being affected, the level of coverage and capacity of the networks will continue to be maintained and even improved.
