The Senate unanimously approved and submitted to the Chamber of Deputies a draft resolution that recognizes the interprovincial treaty for the creation of the Greater Argentine North Region (NOA-NEA) provided for by the Constitution, to promote the “economic and social development” of the provinces of that region.
The author of the initiative, Senator Antonio Rodas (Frente de Todos-Chaco), declared during the Senate session that “it is time to rethink the country, to end the asymmetries and to break centralisms that have caused much damage to our north.”

The text sets the creation of the Norte Grande Argentino Region (NOA-NEA) for him economic-social development of the provinces that compose itand establish the bodies with powers to fulfill its purposes, in accordance with articles 124 and 125 of the National Constitution.
Thus, they are determined as states party to the provinces of Catamarca, Chaco, Corrientes, Formosa, Jujuy, Misiones, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán.

The primary purpose of this treaty is to specify the integration of the NOA and NEA provinces to achieve an effective system of consensus and joint action among the States Parties.
According to the text, The measure will allow the coordination of policies and the materialization of projects of common interest, that they can in fact increase the regional economic and social potential.
In one of its clauses it clarifies that the created region will not imply any decrease in provincial autonomy.
The senator of the FdT for Tucumán Pablo Yedlin explained that the norm rwill result in benefits for the production of northern Argentina and considered that it should be taken into account as “a gateway to the Pacific and a gateway to the country’s development.”
