This Thursday it was approved in the second debate in said corporation.

Colombian News.

In the early hours of this Thursday, December 15, the bill that prohibits bullfighting in Colombia was approved in the Senate of the Republic, a practice that has been rejected for many years by animal rights societies in the territory.

The parliamentarians who voted in favor of the ban were 50 of the 80 who attended the debate in that corporation that is part of one of the three powers of the State, in charge of legislating.

The animalist congresswoman from the Green Party, Andrea Padilla Villarraga, was one of the happiest for the decision made in the Senate since she was one of the speakers for the bill.

At his side, the president of the Congress of the Republic, Roy Barreras, gave him a big hug as a sign of victory.

It should be noted that Bill 085 of 2022 will be implemented gradually so that people who are engaged in these activities seek other sources of income. The tax period could be 3 years to put an end to this type of activity that is practiced in many towns and cities in Colombia.

Now all that remains is for the debate to pass next year through the Fifth Commission of the House of Representatives, the other legislative body, so that bullfighting in our country is definitively prohibited.

Animalists in Colombia celebrate this momentous decision in defense of animal rights.
