The Cali Metropolitan Police announced that the comprehensive security plan is already prepared to guarantee public order during the Cali Fair, one of the most important events in the country, which expects the arrival of nearly 140 thousand visitors.
According to him General Edwin Urregonew commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, the city will have a special device made up of 1,200 police officers, mobility agents and Inspection, Surveillance and Control teams of the Cali Mayor’s Office, who will be in charge of verifying security conditions in commercial establishments, event scenarios and strategic points in the city.
“The National Police has arranged to guarantee security for the fair. We have 1,200 officials who will be developing plans or checkpoints; we will be present in shopping centers and in the gastronomic sector,” he said.

The officer indicated that surveillance at tourist sites will also be reinforced, taking into account the high flow of visitors, and permanent controls will be carried out on public transportation.
“Different plans have also been developed in magazines for public service vehicles. We will be present in different parts because it is not only the security of the fair events, which are more than 50, but the security of the entire city,” he added.
Likewise, checkpoints will be implemented at the entrances to Cali to protect the capital of Valle del Cauca from any event that could alter public order.
“We are going to have checkpoints to protect the city at the entry points, but also internal checkpoints that will be mobile, requisitioning vehicles and guaranteeing that people move without any type of weapons,” he stated.
On the other hand, the commander specified that all the formalized events of the Cali Fair will have a police presence, with devices adjusted according to the magnitude of each activity.

In addition, the operation will include aerial surveillance with the Halcón helicopter, drone support and permanent monitoring through security cameras installed in different parts of the city.
