The Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, signed the resolutions that establish the gas and electricity tariff update, within the framework of the process initiated with the public hearings held between May 10 and 12, official sources confirmed tonight.
Sources noted that “Both gas and electricity strictly comply with the guidelines” instructed in this regard by President Alberto Fernández and the head of the Treasury Palace, Martín Guzmán, regarding that “the rate corrections are lower than the variation in the income of people”.
In this framework, those who have a social rate will have total annual increases in their bills of less than 21.6%, a percentage equivalent to 40% of the increase registered by the Coefficient of Salary Variation (CVS) during the past year.
For their part, the rest of the residential users will have, on average, increases in their total annual bills of less than 42.7%, a percentage equivalent to 80% of the 2021 CVS.
“The updated values signed are those established by the economic program drawn up by the Ministry of Economy,” the sources emphasized.

In the case of electricity, the increase in the Residential Seasonal Price of Electric Energy (PEST) will be in the order of 26%, which will impact the bills of typical users with average consumption in the Greater Buenos Aires area with a rise of 16.53%.
The sources emphasized that in each province the increase in electricity bills will be different, but always lower in percentage terms than that recorded in Greater Buenos Aires.
In the case of users with a Social Rate, the increase in the bill in Greater Buenos Aires will be 7.7% on average.
As far as gas is concerned, users with the Social Rate will not have any increase; while for the rest of the users throughout the country, the sale price of gas at the Point of Entry to the Transportation System (PIST) will increase between 41.7% and 46.3%, which will represent an increase in the average bill for residential users between 18.55% and 25%.
The adequacy of natural gas prices at the Point of Entry to the Transportation System (PIST) was ordered through Resolution 403/22 of the Ministry of Energy.
Meanwhile, the adequacy of the Seasonal Price of Electric Energy (PEST) was arranged through Resolution 405/22 of the Ministry of Energy.
