The Ministry of Production (Produce) authorized from today the start of the second fishing season of the resource anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and white anchoveta (Anchoa nasus), in the maritime area between 16°00’LS and the extreme south of Peru’s maritime domain, corresponding to the period July – December 2022.
Through Ministerial Resolution No. 00230-2022-PRODUCE, it was indicated that the catch quota amounts to 486,500 tons. Likewise, the end date of the season will be December 31, 2022 or once the total maximum allowable catch limit has been reached.

It was also reported that only fishing vessels registered and authorized to carry out extractive activities during the current fishing season can carry out fishing activities within the framework of this regulation, in accordance with the Maximum Catch Limit per Vessel of the Southern Zone (LMCE-Sur). , which will be published by Directorial Resolution of the General Directorate of Fisheries for Direct and Indirect Human Consumption of the Vice Ministerial Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Production.
Similarly, the owners of fishing vessels with current fishing permits for the extraction of the anchoveta resource must allow and provide the necessary facilities for the development and fulfillment of the functions of the Ministry of Production, including the activities to be carried out by the auditors accredited by the General Directorate of Supervision, Control and Sanction of the Vice-ministerial Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
Failure to comply with the provisions of this Ministerial Resolution is sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of Decree Law No. 25977, General Fisheries Law, its Regulations, approved by Supreme Decree No. 012-2001-PE, in Legislative Decree No. 1084 , Law on Maximum Catch Limits per Vessel, its Regulations, approved by Supreme Decree No. 021-2008- PRODUCE, in the Regulations for Control and Sanction of Fishing and Aquaculture Activities, approved by Supreme Decree No. 017-2017-PRODUCE, and other applicable legal provisions
