Breakfast, which will arrive from the beginning of classes to the educational units of the capital municipality, It brings a greater variety and seeks to contribute to student nutrition.
The investment in the school diet reaches Bs 165.8 million, which will guarantee daily rations for 377,000 initial, primary and secondary students, throughout the 2023 term.
The budget doubles that of 2022 because the number of beneficiaries was increasedsince from this year secondary level students are included.
Last year the number of beneficiaries was 218,000 students and this year it reaches 377,000 students. Of this total, 217,823 are initial and primary, and 159,747 secondary.
Also, the products increased from 19 to 55, so the students will have a snack more varied and better tasting, highlights the municipal director of Education, Raúl Ascarrunz.
It also highlights the nutritional value of the snack, which is intended to provide a healthier diet for children.
In fact, the menu was defined after a study carried out last year in more than 150 educational units, which threw that one of the main health problems in children and young people is obesity.
“Today we enter secondary school. We have a very varied menu, in which we are taking care that there is a greater load of proteins and nutrientsinstead of flour and fats”, indicated Azcarrunz.
For example, now the menu includes lactose-free milk in its different flavors, nutritional bars, cereals with raisins, empanadas with carrot filling and with a fruit delicacy and quinoa, cookies with oatmeal and cocoa, whole wheat sticks with cheese, cookies with coconut and bran, fruits, among other products. But, it also includes cuñapé abiscochado and pipocas, which children like so much.
In the breakfast presentation, Mayor Jhonny Fernández also announced the delivery of the Velatacú food supplement. In addition, he said that medical brigades will be assisted from the beginning of classes, mainly for deworming and to attend to dental needs.
