The Santa Cruz model hinders a totalitarian project, says the Committee

After the latest events of intervention in the Saguapac Cooperative, summons to declare Rómulo Calvo and the accusations against three authorities and a transport leader in Tarija, the Committee for Santa Cruz called a march in defense of institutions and democracy.

The walk started from the Plaza del Estudiante yesterday and ended in the atrium of the Basilica Menor de San Lorenzo (Cathedral), with a single speech, that of the civic leader Rómulo Calvo.

From the improvised front, Calvo challenged the Government. “We meet to express our repudiation of the attack on Santa Cruz institutions in general, our public service cooperatives and the Committee for Santa Cruz, in particular. We want to remind the country that these institutions were created in Santa Cruz in the total absence of a State that did not comply with its most basic obligations to our people,” he said.

The civic leader, in addition, called to preserve, above all, the institutionality of the cooperatives, free from interference and political manipulation. He said that with the cooperatives in the hands of the MAS, the people of Santa Cruz would become a hostage of this party, since they would depend on it for drinking water, electricity, telephony and internet.

These fundamental services would be used to punish opponents and reward militants, bending the people of Santa Cruz”he asserted, also adding that a company that works with the Government has gone bankrupt.

For Calvo, the Santa Cruz cooperative model hinders a totalitarian project. He said that for this reason there is a macabre plan to annihilate it, and that the objective is to nationalize the cooperatives in a “savage” blow.

Persecution
Rómulo Calvo also referred to the fact that citizens are facing a government whose legitimacy is strongly questioned, which does not respect democracy, and which is unleashing political persecution against all those who think differently.

He denounced the abuses against the people of Tarijeño, against their leaders, who began a “legal hunt, trying to criminalize the protest.” The civic stated that Santa Cruz is with the Tarijeñosand that the population remains on alert to undertake a joint struggle to defend freedom and democracy.

Governor Luis Fernando Camacho caught up with the caravan before they arrived at the plazadid not intervene in the front, but attended the media, said that he attended as a citizen and member of the cooperatives, which are a model for Bolivia and the world.

“Centralism did not give us anything. Masismo wants to see our people on their knees, it wants to take over our cooperatives, dent what it has cost us Cruceños, and we will make them respect”, he warned.

the great absentee
Mayor Jhonny Fernández did not attend the march and was referred to as a ‘masista’ due to his absence.

Meeting in February
Rómulo Calvo announced that at the beginning of February he will meet with all the federations, to evaluate measures to be taken as a national bloc and in “unity”, in order to avoid the approval of laws that are detrimental to democracy.
