Zakharova warned that relations between Moscow and Western powers are approaching a “point of no return.”
The sanctions imposed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine against President Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov show the “impotence” of Western countries, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
“The sanctions against the president and the foreign minister are an example and a demonstration of the total impotence of your own foreign policy,” spokeswoman Maria Zajarova told Russian television.
Zakharova warned that relations between Moscow and Western powers are approaching a “point of no return.”
“It has not been our option. We wanted dialogue, but the Anglo-Saxons closed those options one after another and began to act differently,” said the official.
“It’s not because of the threats [de sanciones]but the fact is that we are close to the point of no return,” he said.
Russian forces, which invaded Ukraine on Thursday, encountered stiff resistance on the outskirts of Kiev on Friday.
