January represented a record of sales in the passages of long distance trainssince the demand increased by almost 70%, according to the Ministry of Transportation, led by Diego Giuliano.
From the portfolio they detailed that 226,056 people chose this conveyance to travel to their vacation spots: this meant an increase of 68.53% in the sale of long distance trainscompared to the pre-pandemic.
The ministry said that the increase in travel in long distance trains It is due “to the combination of a greater number of trains offered in its long-distance services, the opening of new branches and the regularity and punctuality registered in the services, which has boosted the national portfolio since the beginning of management”.
In this regard, the minister highlighted:More and more people choose our trains to travel to rest on their vacations. In addition to being an economical alternative, people recognize us for the quality of service they receive, the convenience and comfort that we are offering”.
And he added: “That is why we are adding more and more destinations, promoting tourism from more locations and motorizing the regional economies of different parts of the country that have a lot to offer, as we did very recently with San Luis or Pehuajó. That is the vision we have about transportation: to put it at the service of the economic development of Argentina and its people”.
For his part, Martín Marinucci, head of Trenes Argentinos, said: “This year we registered a record in the sale of tickets for the seasonwhich indicates that Argentines choose the train as a means of transportation for vacations”.
In addition, he stressed: “We are bringing a top quality service and with an affordable rate to each of our passengers, as requested by President Alberto Fernández and Minister Diego Giuliano.”
How much sales increased in each destination
Mar del Plata, one of the most chosen destinations to travel on vacation, had an increase of 72.50% in ticket sales; while in Tucumán, they increased 15.8%.
For their part, this year, 12% more passengers chose this conveyance to move to Córdoba, while to Rosario, the increase was 58%.
