In the midst of the increase in coronavirus cases that the country is going through, the sale of self test to diagnose the disease also increased by almost 80% during the last seven days.
According to a survey of the Argentine Pharmaceutical Confederation (COFA), it went from selling 5,087 tests to almost 9,000 self test per day, which represents an increase of 77% in the first days of December.
This, since on Monday 12 sales rose to 8,955 units sold, a figure that exceeds the previous maximum peak of May with 5,645 daily analyzes sold. The study also revealed that 50% of the people who had the self test tested positive for covid-19.
Although initially the increase in demand for tests occurred in the City of Buenos Aires, which is in line with the increase in infections, in recent weeks, the increase in sales has spread to the entire country.
Currently, there are six brands of self test available in pharmacies throughout the country so that citizens can access their control in the event of suspected contagion.
From the Confederation they recalled that the results must be reported within 24 hours after buying the proofeither by communicating directly with the pharmacy, by scanning the QR code provided by the pharmacist, at the time of dispensing, or via the web.
And they clarified: “the reported results, either through the pharmacy itself or by the patient using their cell phone, are declared by Cofa to the National Health Surveillance System to add these data to the analysis of the general situation in the country.”
Coronavirus in Argentina
The Ministry of Health reported last Sunday that the country reported 27,119 new cases of coronavirusthat is, 115% more than those registered the previous week, when 12,609 were confirmed.
