Sales of 0km vehicles grew again in February for the eighth consecutive monthaccording to the latest data released this Tuesday by the Uruguayan Automotive Trade Association (Acau).
Last month 3,772 units were sold, which represented a year-on-year growth of 6%.
The data by category shows that the automobile segment led sales and expanded by 1,469 vehicles, although it registered a decrease of 9.9% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, they were traded 1,197 utilitieswith expansion of +27.2% compared to February last year.
in the segment of sport utility (SUV) 925 units were sold (+13.2%) compared to the same month last year. In trucks, 162 units were sold, similar to the previous year.
In the accumulated annual figure, 7,767 new vehicles have been sold, that is, 11% more than the 6,996 in the same period of 2022. It is the best first two months of the year since 2018.
The sale of new vehicles had a rebound during 2022 with the greatest dynamism in the last six years. Growth was seen in automobiles, sports vehicles, and utility vehicles.
There were several factors that influenced the good performance of the sector in the year, such as the retraction of the dollar and the willingness to purchase durable goods, which the consumer confidence index was located in the range of moderate optimism.
