The board of directors of the Rural Federation (FR), one of the agricultural unions with the greatest trajectory and relevancea member of the Campo Unido movement, issued a statement in which urges the federated unions and producers from all over the country to accompany the support for the Law of Urgent Consideration and put the NO before the repeal of the articles to be considered in the referendum which will be in March.
This decision is based on what was considered in the extraordinary congress of the RF held in December.
The directive command of the entity chaired by Mónica Silva, to express itself, held meetings with professionals “to get advice and obtain information.”
One of the aspects that becomes clear is that “135 articles of the LUC are plebiscitated, and not article by article. There is no option to choose the articles to repeal. It is either to repeal or NOT to repeal the 135 articles”.
Then it is pointed out that among these articles there are two directly linked to the agricultural sector, those that refer to the National Colonization Institute (INC) and Mevir.
“What this law incorporates are changes, benefits and flexibility for producers who maintain links with these institutions”indicated.
In addition, it is established that “articles are added to the above that are not specifically about the agricultural sector, but that affect us as citizens directly, in our way of life and work”, in relation, it is indicated, to public security, presumption of innocence, self-defense, insult to the Police, registry of persons, articles on financial freedom, articles referring to freedom of work and the right to manage a company, referring to education, number portability and leasing without guarantees .
“The LUC and these articles that are put under consideration, incorporate changes and aspects that have been raised from the productive sector itself. This is why we understand it is necessary for the LUC to be maintained, and the articles that are intended to be repealed are maintained,” he understands. the FR.
