The Buenos Aires PJ held an emergency meeting a few days after the allegation in which a date was set for a party congress to be held: the decision was to do it this Saturday in Merlo with the presence of the Vice President herself, but everything was suspended after the attack
A week ago, after the operation of the City Police that surrounded the former president’s home with fences in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires by order of the head of the Buenos Aires Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Kirchnerism suspended all the acts that were planned to that day and called urgently to concentrate on the corner of Juncal and Uruguay.
On that day several militants were beaten and random arrests were recorded of some legislators in police work that further unified the FdT in denouncing the repression and questioning Larreta, whom they blamed for what happened.
In this framework, the Party Council chaired by Alberto Fernández called for another meeting of the PJ leadership body for next Friday, September 9, in the province of Santiago del Estero, but not before disseminating a statement in which they denounced that the vice president is the victim of “political, judicial and media persecution”.
Along the same lines, the Buenos Aires PJ held an emergency meeting a few days after the argument in which a date was set for a party congress to be held: the decision was to do it this Saturday in Merlo with the presence of the Vice President herself, but everything was suspended after the attack with a firearm on Thursday night. Given the centrality of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who lives in the streets and also in sectoral meetings, her son Máximo did not avoid talking about a possible presidential candidacy
Before that episode that shocked and perplexed the entire political leadership, the greatest obstacle to resolve within the FdT was the decision of the Great Fatherland Front led by social leader Juan Grabois, which had announced that the three deputies of that space -Natalia Zaracho, Itai Hagman and Federico Fagioli- would leave the ruling bloc in the lower house.
For this reason, prior to last Thursday, both Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and the national deputy and head of the Buenos Aires PJ, Máximo Kirchner, sent conciliatory messages to Grabois to prevent his departure from the ruling alliance and called for “differences to be discussed and resolved indoors”.
Faced with the centrality of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who lives in the streets and also in sectoral meetings, her son Máximo did not avoid talking about a possible presidential candidacy in a radio interview, but he expressed his opinion from a position as a direct family member on “the wear and tear” that occupying the Presidency means.
“I know how worn out the Presidency is if you work seriously. You burn a lot of life in that place and you can’t be on vacation like (former President Mauricio) Macri did,” Máximo Kirchner confided in an interview with El Destape Radio.

And in that sense, he added: “As a son I have mixed feelings and sensations. Cristina is very good. She does gymnastics, she is hyper-lucid, she constantly orders us and is better than many leaders, if you compare with other opposition figures.”
Kirchner, in any case, insisted that the decision to present herself as a candidate for next year’s presidential elections “will depend on her,” and stated: “Like any other citizen, I want the best to govern me.”
“I am the son (of Cristina), but there is something that is logical and everyone sees it. Does anyone have any doubt that she is the best leader and has a stark difference from the rest of the political figures?” He asked.
Hours later, on the night of that same day, the assassination attempt by Brazilian Fernando Sabag Montiel took place, forcing some meetings to be suspended while others were scheduled for the following week.
“I have no doubt that Cristina has to be the protagonist in 2023”, was the phrase of CapitanichJorge Captainich
The priority became the massive mobilization to Plaza de Mayo in defense of democracy and against violence.
Before the consultation about a potential candidacy of the current vice president, the president of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich, did not hesitate and reiterated his previous statement about the advisability of running for the Casa Rosada next year.
“I have no doubt that Cristina has to be the protagonist in 2023,” was Capitanich’s phrase, although he added that “the decision of a candidacy depends exclusively on her” because it is “a personal decision.”
In this context, the League of Governors will meet this Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Federal Investment Council (CFI), while the leaders of the Norte Grande will meet again next Thursday the 8th in Resistencia, Chaco, in a series of meetings that will take place will complete with the national council of the PJ on Friday 9 in Santiago del Estero.
