Colombia News.

The Colombian tennis player Juan Sebastián Cabal made a particular complaint on his social networks.

Together with Robert Farah, he recently played the Masters 1,000 in Madrid, Spain, a tournament in which he won second place.

There he was given a runner-up trophy which he wanted to send to Colombia. However, the Valle del Cauca tennis player complained of an alleged excessive charge by the DIAN.

What do you think about this?…that the DIAN is charging me $1,779,170 to give me my Madrid trophy, a trophy that I earned with so much effort and representing Colombia. I hope my trophy looks nice in some DIAN office,” was the complaint of the professional tennis player who won several Grand Slams with his teammate Robert Farah

Taxes that Cabal would apparently have to pay for the shipment.

According to what was quoted by the newspaper TIME, The Valle del Cauca tennis player would have made a mistake in the option of sending the Cup by the DHL company and for this reason the charge would have been generated.

Faced with these doubts, the DIAN responded to Cabal, a message published by the aforementioned medium:

“La Dian contacted the athlete to determine under what modality he sent the trophy and thus be able to help him throughout the process,” the entity said in a newsletter.

And he adds: “La Dian also explained that depending on the modality by which it was sent, some taxes are caused, according to Colombian customs legislation and that is what is being determined.”

The newspaper indicates that Cabal deleted the mentioned tweets and that until now it has not issued any new information related to this impasse.
