The 20 -year -old university student Brigitte Salazar Ocampo was found dead, buried between bushes in the Paurito area.
The Departmental Prosecutor’s Office through its headline Alberto Zeballos in coordination with the Special Force for the Fight against Violence (FELCV), began investigations for femicide. The main suspect of death is the boyfriend, Yoel ECP, 28, who was apprehended and remains in police custody.
The victim was reported as disappeared by her relatives on April 11, after she left her home in Plan 3,000 towards the State University without anyone giving reason for her whereabouts. Family members lived uncertainty and cried out for help to the police for the search for the young woman.
The discovery of the body was possible thanks to a joint operation between the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police. “According to the first indications collected, it is presumed that it is a new case of feminicide. It has as an apprehended a male person,” said prosecutor Alberto Zeballos.
Subsequently, the body was transferred to the morgue for legal autopsy. Forensic results will be decisive to support formal imputation.
Initially, the case was open under the criminal type of human trafficking, but investigations led to a turn in the hypothesis. The assigned prosecutor, Daniel Lobo, confirmed that the testimony pointed out that the last person with the young woman was her sentimental partner.
They already add six femicides
This fact adds to the recent feminicide of an 18 -year -old girl who was victimized by her partner in a residential in the Bimodal Terminal area.
The FELCV reports point out that the victim met the 23 -year -old subject over a month ago and began a romantic relationship. On the 9th of this month they left and stayed in a residential in the bimodal area.
The next day, April 10, the young woman tried to retire from accommodation because she had to attend her work in a hardware store. However, his partner identified as Denilson Nzg asked him to stay in the residential and did not let her out. It was then that they argued, the subject hit her, took her from his neck with his arm and suffocated it, causing death.
The investigations indicate that the subject slept two days with the lifeless girl and even left the residential, bought a razor with which she wrote her last name in the victim’s back. Then he communicated with his relatives, who went to the accommodation and delivered him to the police.
Felcv agents raised the body and transferred to the morgue of the island’s pampas, for the corresponding legal autopsy. Forensic experts established that the young woman died a product of mechanical asphyxiation due to strangulation. The prosecutor specialized in crimes against life, Rose María Barrientos, filed an imputation against man for a crime of femicide and asked the judge for preventive detention in the Palmasola prison for considering what a danger for society means.
The hearing will take place on Tuesday before the precautionary judge Lorena Añez who will resolve the legal status of the accused.
So far this management already add six femicides, all were clarified. The 2024 management were registered 20 feminicides, all resolved, according to the FELCV.
