The prosecutor of the Chamber of Senators, Adrián Juri (Colorado Party), published on his verified Twitter account on November 5 a screenshot of a news item from Telemundo, which reads that “the registry of rapists and sexual abusers created in the Law of Urgent Consideration is already operational.”
“This is part of the ones that you repeal if you vote yes. This is what the FA and the PIT-CNT want to repeal, ”commented the Colorado militant from the sanguinetista sector. This warning is false, in a communication move that is similar to the one carried out by Álvaro Delgado and Beatriz Argimón sharing a video spot defending another article that would not be repealed in the referendum.
It would not be repealed
The article Juri refers to is 104 of the LUC, included in chapter IX. “Create a National Registry of Violators and Sexual Abusers, which will be in charge of the Ministry of the Interior,” says the first paragraph and adds that “those convicted with a final judgment for the crimes of rape will be included in the Registry (Article 272), sexual abuse (article 272 BIS), especially aggravated sexual abuse (article 272 TER), violent indecent assault (article 273), sexual abuse without bodily contact (article 273 BIS), and corruption (article 274) of the Penal Code, and for the crimes set forth in Law No. 17,815, of September 6, 2004 (on sexual, commercial or non-commercial violence, committed against children, adolescents or the disabled), in order to identify the persons responsible ”.
As stated on the website of the campaign for the “Yes” I sign., Article 104 is not among those to be repealed. Although Twitter users have pointed out to Juri that what she claims is false, she has chosen not to delete the tweet from her account, preferring to write a clarification in another tweet. “I have to admit that I was wrong, I was confused about the article and this is not within the 135 articles that are in question. If under the tweet many will say everything. That is why I explain it to someone who respectfully clarified it to me, ”said Juri, quoting Ana de Rogatis, who made the mistake.
