The regime organizes acts of patriotic reaffirmation to honor the soldiers who died in Venezuela

The presence of a US drone deters the Cuban Ilyushin from landing in Venezuela

Madrid/The Government of Cuba is preparing a day of patriotic demand on the occasion of the repatriation of the bodies of the 32 Cuban soldiers who were part of Nicolás Maduro’s first security ring and who died during the US attack in which the former Venezuelan president was detained.

In a statement published this Monday, the Government reported that the bodies will arrive on Thursday on the Island on a flight that will land in the morning at the Havana international airport. There will be a posthumous tribute for the “combatants, who heroically fell during the criminal attack perpetrated by the Government of the United States against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” the text underlines.

From there, they will be transferred along Rancho Boyeros Avenue to the headquarters of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. It is to be expected that the Government will mobilize its supporters to escort the procession, since it speaks of a “representation of the people” that will be “concentrated on both sides of the road” and “will honor the fallen”, so there will be little spontaneous about this tribute.

In any case, at 10:00 in the morning the room will be opened to the population who wants to pay their respects to the military, whose mortal remains will be exposed in the facility.

The splendor will continue on Friday, at 7:30, when Havana residents have been called to gather in front of the Anti-imperialist Tribune for an event called “March of the Combatant People, as a reaffirmation of their commitment to the homeland.” The event will have replicas in each provincial capital at 9 in the morning and, as the statement urges, “all municipalities in the country will carry out acts of posthumous tribute.”

The burials will take place at 4 p.m., in the pantheons of the Fallen for the Defense of the towns of origin of the deceased.

The statement concludes with “Honor and glory to our heroes!”, a slogan that the regime has made central to refer to the 32 deaths in Venezuela, 20 agents from the Ministry of the Interior and 12 from the Revolutionary Armed Forceswho provided security services to Nicolás Maduro.

Some versions have questioned whether the real number of deaths is that reported by the authorities, although there is also speculation that there were detainees or escapees.

Some versions have questioned whether the real number of deaths is that disclosed by the authorities, although there is also speculation that there were detainees or escapees among the Cuban military who protected Maduro, functions that have been denied by Havana for a long time.

A 2022 report by the UN Independent Fact-Finding Mission concluded, after analyzing “confidential written agreements” between Caracas and Havana, that military collaboration dates back to 2006, during the presidencies Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro.

This document, delivered to the United Nations Human Rights Council, states that “agents of the Cuban State had instructed and advised the” Venezuelan “General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence” in some of its intelligence and counterintelligence activities.”
