Oriente Petrolero will face Cerro Porteño this January 22 with many casualties. The refinery squad lost all its friendlies with the ‘U’ Católica, Ñublense, and Libertad Gran Mamoré, but the most painful loss is due to the injury of its players.
Seven are the injured who are in the refinery infirmary. With the start of the championship just around the corner, Erwin Sánchez must devise a ‘B’ plan in order to be competitive.
Sebastian Alvarez: The defender was supposed to start the friendly, but the player suffered an infection near his heel. He couldn’t even put on a bandage or stocking without pain, so he was sidelined from the start.
Jamir Berdecio: He suffered a blow to his right leg and complained of ligament pain.
Christian Alvarez: The player had been dragging a calf injury. The attacker could not hold out throughout the game and was substituted due to the contracture. He will not be taken into account for the friendly against Cerro Porteño.
Franz Gonzales: Right ankle sprain. The midfielder sprained his ankle trying to slow down to control a ball during the friendly. The terrible state of the playing field contributed to the injury.
Alain Nino de Guzman: The steering wheel suffered a blow near the Achilles tendon.
George Correa: The foreigner ended up with a hamstring tear, but his recovery is expected to be quick.
Maximilian Caire: Another of those discarded for the trip to Paraguay. The defender suffered a strained knee.
The refiner will need to put together a moderately competitive team, and without some of its figures to seek its first victory of the year. The match against Cerro Porteño is scheduled for January 22.
