The Argentine Red Cross issued this Wednesday a series of tips so that all people can enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays in a “safe way”, and they recommended -among other things- to stay hydrated and eat in a varied way, not to drive if alcoholic beverages are ingested, and not to leave any object that could be dangerous within the reach of children.
In a list with recommendations, they warned that when decorating the home with flashing lights it is “important to make sure that the bulbs and cables are not damaged”.
Through a statement, the Red Cross suggested avoiding keeping the lights on throughout the night and asked not to leave any object that could be dangerous within the reach of children.
To avoid accidents during the celebrations, if alcoholic beverages are ingested, it is advisable to resort to transport services such as buses, taxis and/or remises, or that a person be designated to drive.

Regarding the advice to transit a heat wave, the Red Cross suggested pay attention to alerts from the National Meteorological Service; increase fluid intake without waiting to feel thirsty; Do not expose yourself to the sun excessively, nor in central hours of the day (between 11 and 17); avoid alcoholic and/or high-sugar beverages and avoid large meals.
In turn, he added the importance of eating vegetables and fruits; reduce physical activity; wear light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, a hat, and dark glasses; and remain in ventilated or conditioned spaces.
