The red alert continues for extreme heat in CABA and the province of Buenos Aires

Much of the central and eastern part of the country begins this Friday a new day of suffocating heat with highs that in some cases will reach 37 degrees, for which the National Meteorological Service (SMN) maintains the red alert for extreme temperatures “very dangerous” for the city of Buenos Aires, La Plata and other municipalities in the Buenos Aires suburbs.

The national body also issued orange alerts for the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires and the west of Entre Ríos, while yellow level warnings continue for towns in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Misiones, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Santiago del Estero and Salta .

Due to the intensity of the heat that has not ceased for more than a week, the areas affected by red alert are the city of Buenos Aires and the Buenos Aires cities of La Plata, Berisso, Ensenada, Brandsen, Cañuelas, Magdalena, San Vicente, Esteban Echeverría , Ezeiza, La Matanza and Merlo with maximum temperatures that will oscillate between 34 and 37 degrees, although higher thermal sensation marks are expected.

Similarly, in the southern zone of Greater Buenos Aires, the affected areas are Almirante Brown, Avellaneda, Berazategui, Florencia Varela, Lanús, Lomas de Zamora, Presidente Perón and Quilmes, where temperatures are forecast to exceed 35 degrees.

The red level is the maximum alert set by the meteorological agency and indicates that the temperatures in that area can be “very dangerous and affect all people, even the healthy ones”, so it is recommended to increase water consumption and not expose yourself to the sun excessively or in central hours (between 10 and 16).

On the other hand, the SMN maintains a Orange alert for the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires in localities such as Tigre, San Isidro, Campana and Zárate, and also for the west of Entre Ríos in Diamante, La Paz, Nogoyá, Paraná and Villaguay, with maximums around 36 degrees in those coastal cities.

In addition, the rest of Entre Ríos, the north of the province of Buenos Aires, the entire territory of Corrientes and Santa Fe, the center and south of Misiones, the center and north of Córdoba and the southeast of Santiago del Estero are under yellow alert by temperatures that have a “mild to moderate effect on health.”

The yellow level that can “be dangerous especially for risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65 years of age, with chronic diseases” also includes the northwest of the province of Salta in the town of General José de San Martín and in the yungas of Orán, Iruya and Santa Victoria.

Given the high temperatures that have been recorded for days, the Ministry of Health reiterated a series of recommendations for the population such as using sunscreen, hydration, drinking water even when you do not feel thirsty, wearing loose clothing, avoiding exposure to the sun, wearing a hat, eating fruits and vegetables, and avoiding intense physical activity.

Yellow alert for strong winds in Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego

Tierra del Fuego and the mountainous area of ​​Santa Cruz are under a yellow alert due to winds from the west sector, with speeds between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour and gustswhich can exceed 90 kilometers per hour.

The warning is valid for the entire day and, in the case of Santa Cruz territory, covers the mountainous areas of Güer Aike and Lago Argentino.

The SMN recommended that residents of areas under alert avoid outdoor activities and secure items that can be blown up.
