This Thursday has been a day of several strong earthquakes in the Colombian territory according to the data of the Colombian Geological Service and the reports that have been known from the different regions.

Departments such as Valle del Cauca, Santander, Meta and Chocó have been the epicenters of the five telluric movements that have occurred up to the time of publication of this note.

The first of them, according to the data collected, was recorded at 12:49 noon, with a magnitude of 3.3 and a depth of 112 km, and its epicenter was El Dovio – Valle del Cauca.

An hour later, the second of the day was known, 1:50 with a magnitude of 3.1 and a depth of 149 km in Los Santos – Santander, (an area of ​​frequent earthquakes in the country). Later in the same region but at 4:22 with a magnitude of 3.0 and a depth of 153 km, Los Santos moved again.

At 2:20 pm Colombia moved again, this time the epicenter was Mesetas – Meta, 2.7 magnitude and with a surface depth of less than 30 km.

But the strongest ‘totazo’ still hadn’t arrived

In Cali the sky was cloudy, the afternoon was cold and a new day of rain was expected like the day before.

However, when the clock struck 4:23, fear and despair took over many.

A new earthquake of magnitude 5.2, with a depth of 50 km and whose epicenter was El Litoral del San Juán (Docordó) – Chocó, generated panic in different regions of the country.

It was felt violently in Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Quindío, Huila and also in Cauca.

According to the Departmental Risk Management Secretariatreports of telluric movement were received in:

  • Cali, Candelaria, Ulloa, Buga, La Cumbre, Ansermanuevo, El Dovio, Vijes, Andalusia, Yotoco, Roldanillo, Obando, Geneva, Cairo, Palmira, Río Frío, Pradera, Alcalá, La Victoria, La Unión, Buenaventura, Yumbo, Guacarí, Bolívar, Bugalagrande, Tuluá, Algeria, Río Frío, San Pedro, Florida and Jamundí.

After the earthquake that was felt violently in the Valley, the balances report damages in the municipality of Calima – El Darién.
