The striker, who is recovering from a crusader injury, is one step away from confirming his return to Sao Paulo
Pato was seriously injured in September of last year playing with Orlando City, of the MLS
Alexandre Pato is going to become a footballer for Sao Paulo FC in the next few days. The talks are well advanced and the agreement is imminent. The 33-year-old center forward is in the final stages of recovering from a cruciate ligament injury to his right knee that occurred in September last year while playing for Orlando City of Major League Soccer (MLS).
The former Villarreal player is a free agent after terminating his contract with the American team. And, since February, he has been recovering daily at the Sao Paulo facilities, a club where he played two stages between 2014 and 2015 and, later, between 2019 and 2020. He has accumulated good records with the São Paulo Tricolor (with 47 goals in 133 official matches) and created a link with the ‘crooked’.
“We are following the evolution of Pato and now we cannot be in a hurry. The board of directors is in the market looking for reinforcements and knows what is the ideal moment to close an agreement”confirmed the technician from Sao Paulo, Dorival Junior after starting a draw (1-1) in the Corinthians fiefdom on the last day of the Brasileirao.
Initially, Pato will sign a contract until December when the season in Brazil expires, with the possibility of extending their bond for another year. The attacker will have a salary in accordance with the current financial reality of Sao Paulo, but with important goals for productivity.
Being a free agent, Sao Paulo can register the footballer with the CBF whenever they want. The Tricolor doctors do not intend to shorten recovery times due to the severity of the injury suffered, so it will take at least two weeks to be cleared. From then on, they will have to carry out a specific preparation to be able to take the necessary point that allows them to return to the pitch.
