The rebellious immortality of Billy Idol

ANDThe platinum blonde with the unmistakable hoarse voice, the one who dances alone, the one with the faceless eyes, the rebellious rocker of the 80s, Billy Idol shows that his free spirit is still intact, despite the passage of time.

The Roadside Tour 2022 brought him to Latin America and ended in Paraguay, after having performed in Santiago, Lima, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro (Rock in Rio) and Buenos Aires. In this intense journey, the 66-year-old star has shown that, for him, acting is as natural as speaking and that his enthusiasm and dedication are equal to those of his beginnings.

On this tour, was presented for the first time in Lima, on Sunday 4, on a stage filled with an adult audience, an average of 50 years old. There were around 10,000 people who enjoyed 1 hour and 30 minutes of a very outstanding show, not only because of the interpretive quality of Idol and the musicians that accompany him, but also because of the staging in which a bright set with images of New York.

From then on, his eternal accomplice, Steve Stevens, his legendary guitarist shines interpreting fragments of flamenco style and gives a surprise to his followers: he plays the classic chord of Stairway to Heavenby Led Zeppelin. He jokes with gestures, noting that it is not his issue, therefore, it is better to continue doing his own magic.

Stevens is a great sidekick to Idol…dressed, as always, in black leather pants, as black as his hair and fingernails.

In the final stretch they could not miss other unmissable classics: Mony, Mony, One hundred punks, bluehighway and the emblematic Rebel Yell.

The farewell was in charge of white-wedding. Idol takes a Peruvian flag to place on the shoulders and introduce each of the musicians of his band and to say goodbye by making the audience chant: “olé, olé, olé, Billy, Billy”. So he was lost on stage, he left his angry face, bad boy, countless faces and gestures that make him unique.

The show is over, but it makes you want to see it again, to listen to it and continue enjoying all the good things it does. A true gift, Billy Idol.
