The night of November 17 once again brought together the elegance and brilliance characteristic of the National Beauty Contest, one of the most traditional events in the country. In this edition, marked by the talent, live music and charisma of the 26 candidates, the public witnessed a gala that ended up crowning one of the most talked about and admired women of the contest.
That night, María Antonia Mosquera, representative of Valle del Cauca, officially became Miss Colombia 2025, after standing out in each of the tests that defined the competition. Her presence on stage, her preparation and a confidence that remained firm from the first day, led her to quickly position herself among the favorites.

Tonight, in front of a country that vibrated with every moment, she took the crown and wrote an unforgettable chapter in the history of the National Beauty Contest®, demonstrating that discipline, elegance and heart always find their destiny. Its triumph represents the strength of a region and the emotion of a country that celebrates a beauty that inspires, transforms and unites. From today, she has the honor of representing Colombia before the world, and we are sure that she will do so with the greatness, light and sensitivity that only a true queen possesses,” was the message that the pageant published after announcing the winner.
According to the information shared by the organization, María Antonia Mosquera Carvajal was born in Cali on August 8, 2000 and is currently 25 years old. She is a business administrator, with a focus on business sustainability, an academic profile that highlights not only her discipline, but also her interest in projects with social and environmental impact.
Why is Miss Colombia no longer going to Miss Universe?
Each edition of the contest raises the same concern among followers: Why doesn’t the CNB winner represent the country in Miss Universe?
This changed in 2020, when Raimundo Angulo, president of the National Beauty Contest, lost the franchise of the international pageant. With this, the agreement that allowed the Colombian queen to travel to compete on that global stage ceased to exist.
Since then, the winner of the traditional reign of Cartagena participates in Miss International, a different contest, but also recognized worldwide.
The Miss Universe franchise passed into the hands of the Colombian-German model Natalie Ackermann, who created Miss Universe Colombia, an independent pageant designed exclusively to choose the national representative for that pageant.
For the year 2025, the person who will lead the Colombian sash to Miss Universe is Vanessa Pulgarín.
