Veracruz, Veracruz, The overflowing of two rivers due to intense rains in the area of Los Tuxtlas, left damage in the community of La Palma, in the municipality of Catemaco, residents said.
They regretted that the authorities did not clear the bodies of water, which caused them to go out of their channels. Given this, they hope that they solve this problem.
They explained that during the early morning the level of the tributary began to rise and dragged mud, branches and trunks towards some houses, which generated concern and fear among the inhabitants, who asked for support from the authorities.
Yesterday, during the morning, the accesses to the community were freed of branches and trees.
The current swept away a car
In a video broadcast on social networks, a neighbor says: “Here we continue with the rains, there are many people in the street because of what happened to the rivers of La Palma where the water carried away even a car.”
Meanwhile, the state government assured that it is addressing the emergency and that elements of Civil Protection and members of the Secretariat of National Defense arrived at the site, as part of the DN-III Plan.
The municipal administration indicated that it will soon carry out a census and provide support to the victims.
In turn, Governor Rocio Nahle reported that at least two homes were affected. Meanwhile, the Civil Protection Secretariat called on the population to remain alert to emergency warnings related to the storm and hurricane season.
He asked that they avoid alarmism and corroborate information at all times to rule out false news. “An informed community is protected.”
