The celebration was accompanied by a gastronomic fair with more than 100 ‘hollows’ from Quito. Reactivation is the goal.
This December 2, 2021, the Camera from Commerce from Quito (CCQ) celebrated its 115 years of foundation.
The solemn session was held in the Center from Exhibitions Quito, in the midst of a hundred gastronomic ventures that are part of the ‘San Pancho de Quito… hollows and gastronomy’ fair.
Carlos Loaiza Montero, president of the CCQ, said that this event seeks the reactivation of commerce in the capital. “What we are doing is pushing and resuming the atmosphere of the city, precisely starting at this time (Quito festivals) as a way to reactivate employment ”, he pointed out.
In addition, with the support of the American embassy, there have been carvings for women. So far they have trained 1000 entrepreneurs.
Paolo Viera, one of the entrepreneurs, thanked being able to be part of this fair. His business is a 45-year family tradition. “We are specialists in leg soup,” he said with pride and invited citizens to attend from December 2 to 6 to taste the seasoning of the hollows, from 11:00 to 20:00.
The pandemic a challenge
Loaiza said that the pandemic it has meant a series of challenges “for which the Chamber was present,” Loaiza recalled. Since they supported the vaccination plan against covid-19 and it was the first union that promoted the delivery of food and baskets for vulnerable sectors.
The event was attended by mayor of Quito, Santiago Guarderas, who toured the ‘stands’ and tasted, from foam, to dark brown empanadas.
The Mayor stressed that these types of events are joined by activities for the Quito Festivities that seek to reactivate artists and the cultural sector.
