Through their social networks, the queen of the Santa Cruz Carnival 2023, Eliana Gonzálezbetter known as Elu, announced his decision to resign to his reign due to the circumstances that the department of Santa Cruz is going through.
“In all sincerity, I feel deeply that I cannot represent you at our party as I would have liked, with vitality and joy, because the desire to celebrate is not present in my spirit and I don’t feel in a position to do so,” says part of the letter that he published on his networks, where he also posted a video explaining the same thing.
“I trust that you will understand this determination. From now on, I will return to my activities, no further public comment on this sidestephopeful that better times will come, with peace and unity for our beautiful land and all its inhabitants,” adds González.
Until now, about 40 comparsas have reported, through social media, that they will not participate in any carnival activity in Santa Cruz of the Sierra. The measure is carried out in protest against the arrest and persecution of leaders, as well as other “anti-democratic actions against the department.”
