Municipal Government Brigades wait until Friday at Municipal Therapeutic Center at People with disabilities To perform the qualification necessary for processing the card that allows them to access the Bs 250 bonus and other benefits established by law.
The Mayor’s Office promotes this campaign with mobile points that, since yesterday, attend in this center located in district 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 14:00.
The answer was positive from day one. People of different ages in wheelchairs and children loaded in their arms came early and awaited their turn to be evaluated by doctors and to present their requirements.
Among them was Cristina, who lives in the South Magisterium neighborhood, near Palmasola, who arrived in the hope of registering. For two and a half years he suffers from aggressive degenerative rheumatoid arthritis, which keeps it in a wheelchair.
It is the first time that he tries to access the benefits. “They told me to go to the French hospital to make me see. They couldn’t evaluate me because I was very sore,” he said.
The municipal secretary of Health, Michael Méndez, invited to take advantage of the campaign and informed that all people with physical, psychic, mental or multiple disabilities can access the evaluation, without age limit.
Those interested must present a medical certificate issued by a public health or social security establishment, in addition to the identity card. In the case of minors or persons with intellectual disabilities, the identity card of the father, mother or legal guardian is also required.
Lina Flores, from the Mayor’s Office Management Department, stressed that the qualification is the main step to obtain the disability card, which is granted by the Government to people who present a degree of disability equal to or greater than 25%.
This document allows access to the disability bonus, up to Bs 250 monthly for those who have a serious or very serious condition.
In addition to the bonus, the disability card provides other benefits, such as discounts on air, land and river transport, as well as facilities in administrative procedures.
The qualification also opens doors to rehabilitation programs at the Municipal Therapeutic Center and various health services.
Carolina Moro, director of Health, reported three multidisciplinary teams will be until Friday in this center performing the evaluations. He stressed that there is no age limit to access the qualification.
He also recalled that the documents submitted should not be more than six months old.
This Thursday also waited Luis Alberto Ramos, with his five -year -old son in his arms, while his wife made the consultations so that the child can be evaluated.
The child suffers cerebral palsy and suffers epilepsy attacks. Luis Alberto admits that, due to ignorance and lack of time, he had never managed the disability card, so he now hopes to obtain this record that opens the access to the benefits established by law.
Currently the bonus benefits about 8,000 people in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
The director of the Municipal Therapeutic Center, Andrea Parada, indicated that this campaign is also promoting the card of children and adolescents who go to this center, where free and personalized attention is offered to minors, up to 15 years, with physical disability and neurological disorders.
In its facilities there are hydrotherapy services and special rehabilitation rooms. The beneficiaries go to their sessions that receive between one and three times a week.
