During this day, the Puente Alto Guarantee Court decreed the definitive dismissal for the senator, Manuel Jose Ossandon (RN), who was charged with the crime of influence peddling.
It should be remembered that the Eastern Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office formalized the parliamentarian for the repeated crime of influence peddling for constantly pressuring the Pirque Municipality Council, with the aim of favoring an agreement with the company Cavilú SpA, which had the participation of his son, Nicolas Ossandon Lira.

The accusation was made after the complaint of the former mayor of Pirque and cousin of the congressman, Christian Balmaceda. At that time the prosecutor Manuel Warrequested Ossandón’s immunity, but the measure was rejected by the Court of Appeals of San Miguel.
On the part of the Public Ministry, they detailed that the militant of Renovación Nacional made a deposit of more than $34 million to his son, who paid $16 million to his company.
The senator was charged in August 2020, but the Puente Alto Guarantee Court left him without precautionary measures.

Balmaceda described the ruling as “it is unfortunate, because although it was shown that there was a crime on the part of the Senator, it takes a back seat to parliamentary jurisdiction.”
“When the complaint was made, the Senator went through all the media saying that he renounced his jurisdiction in order to be tried and prove his innocence, however, he strictly defended that they not remove his jurisdiction, because he knew that he was going to be judged,” he added.
“In a nutshell, the crime existed, the Senator lied to all of Chile and was saved by having a parliamentarian,” concluded the former mayor of Pirque.
