The Prosecutor’s Office will no longer summon Florencia Serranía for L12, says victims’ lawyer

“The mere fact of issuing summonses and issuing official letters implies a deficient performance of the ministerial authority,” responded the agent of the Public Ministry, María de la Luz Alcántar Alcántar, according to a statement issued by Teófilo Benítez.

The official argued that articles 212 and 213, of the National Objective Code, mandate the Prosecutor’s Office to explore all possible lines of investigation, based on principles such as respect for human rights, to avoid detriment to the rights of the the victim, the defense and any person who may be summoned for an interview.

The lawyer that the position of the Public Ministry is out of context since this authority is obliged to exhaust all lines of investigation and conduct the interviews that are necessary.
