The Superior Environmental Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation for the crime of logging and against wildlife, after the discovery of approximately 17 tons of wood from the tree known as Cocobolo, in the Soberanía National Park.

It is about the confiscation of 15 tucas from the cocobolo tree, which were located last Saturday in the Soberanía Park. After that seizure, this afternoon the Superior Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, together with the National Police and the Ministry of Environment, located 21 felled trees in 7 different points of the Soberanía National Park, which are presumed to be for illegal trafficking and export.
