In Mexico, 1.3 million economic units, of all sizes, were victims of a crime during 2023.

This implied that 3 out of 10 (27.2%) have had to face insecurity, according to the Business Victimization Survey (ENVE) of Inegi.

This level implied an increase compared to the previous year’s record, although it still remains at significantly low levels compared to 10 years ago.

Among the most frequent crimesAt the national level, extortion, robbery or assault and ant robbery were mentioned.

Additionally, it was observed that the total cost of the insecurity and crime against companies was 124,300 million pesos, equivalent to 0.51% of the GDP in 2023.

The outlays that companies make to recover from losses due to crime and prevention measures are the largest.
