The Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Human Rights Center (Centro Prodh) and the Mexican Province of the Company of Jesus called on federal and state institutions to respond as soon as possible and in dialogue with the beneficiaries of the precautionary measures granted by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Human Rights (IACHR) on behalf of 11 members of that religious community in Cerocahui, Chihuahua, for the threats and attacks they have suffered from organized crime groups.
They also reiterated their demand that those responsible for the murder, in June 2022, of the Jesuit priests Javier Campos and Joaquín Mora, who continues to have strong community, state, national and international impact
are brought to justice so that similar events are not repeated.
They highlighted that the Sierra Tarahumara still awaits peace with justice, dignity, human rights and reconstruction of the social fabric
.
Last Tuesday, the IACHR issued the precautionary measures considering that the Jesuits are in a serious and urgent situation at risk of irreparable damage to their rights. The Prodh Center and the Society of Jesus indicated that after seven months and eight days of the murder of the prelates, the tourist guide Pedro Palma and the young Paul Berrelleza, impunity continues, since the perpetrator of the events has not been arrested
