Free Daily made a list of 11 foods of mass consumption in the Dominican Republic, finding that the price of banana increased by more than 80% from January to December 2022.
Of the products, only one maintained its same price throughout the year. While the Garlic registered a short at your price of 9.09%. Instead, the others products register increases between 2.32% and 82.87%.
Free Daily made this list after unleashing a debate on the production and price of banana on the Dominican Republic. On this subject, the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture explained the reasons why there is not an abundance of plantains in the local market and their price is high.
The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic reported at the beginning of December 2022 that the variation of the Consumer’s price index was 0.47% in November 2022 compared to October, placing the inflation accumulated January-November 2022 at 6.80%.
Refering to YoY inflation, Measured from November 2021 to November 2022, the BCRD indicated that it continued with its downward trajectory, standing at 7.58%, for a reduction of 206 basis points with respect to the peak of 9.64% registered in April of last year.
