The President will lead a tribute to investigators who disappeared during the dictatorship

President Alberto Fernández will lead this Thursday the act for the National Day of Memory for Truth and Justice, in which he will deliver the repaired files of eight members of the scientific community who were detained and disappeared during the last military dictatorship, to their relatives and relatives.

The act will take place from 10:45 in the auditorium of the Cultural Center of Science (C3), located at 2280 Godoy Cruz Street in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo.Télam was informed by official sources.

Accompanied by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus, and the President of Conicet, Ana María Franchi, the president will also recognize those members of the organization who were laid off, exonerated or discharged, and had to leave the country, and will unveil a commemorative plaque on the esplanade of the National Council.

The ceremony will also have the presence of the president of Relatives of the Disappeared and Detained for Political Reasons, Ángela “Lita” Paolín de Boitano; the member of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Founding Line, Taty Almeida; and the intervention of referents of the organism.

About the ceremony

During the ceremony, the files of eight detained workers who disappeared during the dictatorship, who worked at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Conicet) at the time of their disappearance, will be repaired: Alicia Graciela Cardoso, Dante Guede, Roberto Luis López Avramo, Liliana Élida Galletti, Mario Oreste Galuppo, Federico Gerardo Lüdden Lehmann, Manuel Ramón Saavedra, and Martín Toursarkissian.

It will also be disseminated publication of a Conicet technical report on the victims of State terrorism belonging to that organization and a plaque will be placed to commemorate the missing investigators.

In addition, together with the Ministry of Science, the Conicet will present a short film that disseminates the work of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo to find the so-called index of grandparenthood, that is, the statistical formula that, based on genetic material, establishes with unquestionable precision the probability of relationship between a grandmother and her grandson or granddaughter; and the creation of the National Genetic Data Bank, according to Filmus.

Tribute to the Grandmothers

Days ago, the Ministry of Science and the Conicet honored the head of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, Estela de Carlotto, and gave her a commemorative plaque.

During that tribute, films He affirmed that “science is essential in a country that wants to advance, that wants to develop, that wants to have a special type of growth, that offers equal opportunities for all” and advanced on the plaque that will be placed this Wednesday: “Being able to have that plaque is going to be an act of reparation, an act of justice.”

Meanwhile, in the act this Wednesday, and “with the commitment to the defense and protection of human rights”, the repaired and reconstructed files will be delivered to the relatives and close friends of eight members of the community of the organization who were detained, disappeared or assassinated as victims of state terrorism.

The repair of the files was a measure established by decree 1199/2012, which provides for the registration of the status of detained-disappeared in the files of the workers who were registered as agents of the National Public Administration.

Hundreds of workers were forced to resign due to ideological persecution, kidnapping or disappearance during the last dictatorship, to which was added the preparation of parallel files instrumented by the highest authorities that at that time led the different institutions.

This Tuesday, meanwhile, at the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) the delivery of the repaired file to the next of kin of María del Carmen Artero de Jurkiewicz where it is stated that the real cause of the interruption of the employment relationship in 1978 was forced disappearance.

“The historical repair of my mother’s file is an act of justice that covers a lie and is to restore her identity not only for her but for all the INTI workers”, Pablo Jurkiewicz, son of María del Carmen Artero from Jurkiewicz, who was a secretary at INTI Chemistry, a Montonero militant and a companion of Father Carlos Mugica.

The event was led by the president of the institute, Ruben Geneyro, with the participation of national authorities, family members, friends, and colleagues.

On October 11, 1978, María del Carmen was arrested by a task force and taken to “Olimpo”, a torture center where Alfredo Giorgi and Mario Villani, also from INTI, were also detained. At the time of her kidnapping, she was 43 years old and she was transferred along with her daughter Cristina, who was 18 years old at the time, and her 2-month-old grandson.
