President Alberto Fernández toured this Friday the sanitation works of the Los Perros stream basin, in the Buenos Aires municipality of Moreno, which will require an investment of 632 million pesos and will benefit 300,000 inhabitants by solving the historical problem of flooding in the area .
During the visit, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, and the local mayor, Mariel Fernández, the Head of State visited the project’s workshop where he greeted the workers who are in charge of the works and spoke with the residents of the area, who highlighted the benefits that the initiative will generatereported the Presidency of the Nation in a statement.
It’s about the first stage of the hydraulic sanitation of the lower basin of the Los Perros streamwhich consists of its channeling and lining with a concrete structure along 3 kilometers between its mouth in the Las Catonas stream and Provincial Route 25.
The work, within the framework of the “Argentina Hace” Program, includes the construction of five reinforced concrete bridges at the intersections of Shakespeare, Lisandro de La Torre, La Plata, Marcos de Bueno and Francia streets, both for vehicular traffic like pedestrians.
The works will impact the neighborhoods of San José, La Perlita, Mi Barrio, La Victoria and Santa Elena and seek to solve the flooding caused by excess rainfall as it will improve water runoff.
Since the commissioning of the work in March 2021, 1,100 meters of the new channel have been executed, in the section that extends between the Las Catonas stream and Márquez de Aguado street. Construction of the Shakespeare Street Bridge was also completed, which required the demolition of the original.
“The sanitation of the Los Perros stream basin is a hydraulic work that will solve the problem of flooding in this area“, said Katopodis and pointed out that “with these works, with more effort and work is the way to give answers to the residents of Moreno”.
The works aim to provide a solution to the flooding that occurs as it is an area with dirt roads, where excess rainfall generates flooding of homes.
