The President participates in the closing of the Summit of the Americas and returns to Argentina

President Albert Fernandez will participate this Friday closure of the IX Summit of the Americas, which takes place in the US city of Los Angeles, will hold bilateral meetings with its peers from Chile and Peru; and at night he will return to Argentina, informed official sources.

At 9 local time (13 from Argentina), will participate in the II Plenary Meeting and an hour later he will meet with the Governor of the State of California, Gavin Newsom.

At 10.30 (2:30 p.m. from Argentina) the head of state will hold a bilateral meeting with the president of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font; and at 12 (16 from Argentina) another with his counterpart from Peru, Pedro Castillo.

Meanwhile, at 1:30 p.m.17.30) Fernández and the other Heads of Delegation will pose for the official photo of the meeting, and at 3:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m.) the President will participate in the III Plenary Meeting of the summit, with which the international conclave will be concluded.

It is expected that at 20 local time (in the Argentine midnight) depart the flight that will bring the President and his entourage back to Buenos Aires.

This Thursday, while speaking at the leaders’ summit, the Argentine president called for the resignation of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Uruguayan Luis Almagro, arguing that “the OAS, if it wants to be respected and be The regional political platform for which it was created must be restructured, immediately removing those who lead it”.

“At this Summit we must analyze the present and project tomorrow in pursuit of a creative reconstruction of multilateralism,” Fernández stressed in his speech at the Convention Center in the US city of Los Angeles, in a speech in which he asked the US president Joseph Biden a reformulation of his country’s policy towards Latin America and the Caribbean.

“I am sure that it is time to open up in a fraternal way in order to favor common interests,” proposed the head of state and, addressing Biden himself, reminded him that “the years prior to his arrival at the Government of the United States of America they were marked by an immensely damaging policy for our region deployed by the administration that preceded it”, in reference to the management of Donald Trump.
