The president of the Upper House, senator Oscar Salomón, received Lic. Gladys Fernández de Chenu, general director of Government Control of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) in the framework of the follow-up to the implementation of the Minimum Requirements Norms- MECIP 2015 within the Chamber of Senators and the National Congress.
Senators Juan Darío Monges and Javier Zacarías Irún attended the meeting held in the meeting room of the Presidency of the Upper House.
Also present were Antonio Sánchez, general secretary; Serafín Segovia, secretary and general directors of the Chamber of Senators, who are members of the Institutional Technical Committee, responsible for coordinating the work of updating macro-processes, organization chart and function manuals.
In this sense, Lic. Gladys Fernández de Chenu, general director of Government Control of the CGR, explained that the meeting was based on the strengthening of the internal control system of the Chamber of Senators and the commitment assumed not only by the president, but also the other members, in order to improve the system. “We know that internal control is the first wall of defense for asset protection,” she said.
He added that the Comptroller General of the Republic leads the internal control system in Paraguay and based on the latest evaluation they want to improve, see what aspects and opportunities for improvement they require, what are the strengths they have and how they can strengthen that system.
Finally, he stressed that the presence of the Senate authorities and the general directors is an indicator that there really is a desire to improve the internal control system in the Upper House.
