The president of the Little League of International Baseball will visit Cuba

The president of the Little League International BaseballThe American Stephen Keener will arrive in Cuba for a work visit between January 11 and 12, according to the island’s sports authorities.

The American federation will arrive in the country accompanied by Carlos Pagán, director of the entity for Latin America, and Pete Cacheiro, member of the board of directors, according to a note published by the sports portal Hit.

The agenda of activities during the visit includes exchanges with directors of the Cuban Olympic Committee, INDER and the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB)with which he will sign a new memorandum of understanding, continuity of the one signed four years ago in Havana.

In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy an exhibition match between children’s teams from the capital, adds the media.

Cuba joined the tournaments that make up the Little League circuit since 2019. Last year it was represented in the Caribbean contest by the team from the city of Santa Clara, which won the national tournament.

In the regional event, held last July in the Dominican Republic, the Cuban team reached the final undefeated, but gave way with a 1-3 score against the cast of Curaçao A, who ultimately got the only ticket offered by the tournament for the Little League World Series, in the American city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
