The President makes 35 appointments to her cabinet

Hours before starting her term, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo made 35 appointments of members of her team who will accompany her in the federal government.

Through a statement, he reported the appointment of officials from the outgoing administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as some former members of that cabinet. He also announced the ratification of six officials.

Among the appointments is that of Santiago Nieto, who will be head of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, while César Yáñez will occupy the Undersecretariat of the Interior and Víctor Suárez will go to the Agrarian Attorney’s Office.

The spokesperson for the Presidency with López Obrador, Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, was named head of the Coordination of Advisors to the Presidency, while Paulina Silva Rodríguez will be the head of the General Coordination of Social Communication, and Alfonso Brito, of the Coordination of Liaison and Information .

In the armed forces, he appointed Major General of the General Staff Enrique Covarrubias to the Undersecretariat of National Defense; Admiral José Barradas, Undersecretary of the Navy, and Vice Admiral Juan Carlos Vera, General Director of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

He also ratified María Eugenia Navarrete in the ownership of the Federal Conciliation and Arbitration Board; Jorge Mendoza, general director of the National Bank of Public Works and Services; to Raquel de la Luz Sosa, general director of the Benito Juárez García Coordinating Body of Universities for Well-being, and to Flor de María Harp, head of the Mexican Geological Service.

In the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Édgar Abraham Amador will be undersecretary of the agency, while the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Marina Robles, will be undersecretary of Environmental Policy.

And in the educational sector, Tania Rodríguez was appointed undersecretary of Higher Secondary Education, as well as Angélica Noemí Juárez in Basic Education. In addition, Francisco Luciano Concheiro will be the head of the Federal Educational Authority of Mexico City, and Julio César León will be the national coordinator of the Benito Juárez Welfare Scholarships.

The Institute to Return the Stolen to the People will be headed by Mónica Fernández; that of the National Fund for Workers’ Consumption, Laura Fernanda Campaña, and Carlos Manuel Merino will be head of Airports and Auxiliary Services.

María del Rocío García was appointed head of the National DIF System; Nuria Fernández, from the National System for the Comprehensive Protection of Girls, Boys and Adolescents, and Rodrigo Chávez, to the National Housing Commission.

Marcela Figueroa to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System; Elizabeth Mar Juárez, head of the Mexican Petroleum Institute; Sergio Humberto Graf, to the National Forestry Commission; Carlos Emiliano Calderón will direct CFE Internet Para Todos; Abraham Eugenio Carro will head the Mexican Youth Institute, while Catalina Monreal will head the National Institute of Social Economy.
